KORMÁKUR
Kormákur was captured by Herjólfur when he was on a raid in Ireland, just before he took land in Westman Islands. Having Irish ancestry and a Celtic religion, Kormákur struggled in Iceland. Herjólfur treated Kormákur badly and both Freyja and Vilborg felt sorry for him. His daily life consisted of making sure that Herjólfur’s ale was always ready and fermented. Additionally, he was responsible for farming and all the hard work.
Kormákur was a sharp man, educated and resourceful, and knew much more than he led on. He enjoyed fooling around and playing with Flóki when nobody was looking. The stories tell that he and Flóki had a unique friendship and he taught Flóki to read the stars.
Did you know that Kormákur
was a high priest in Ireland before he was captured?
